If anyone has been paying attention, posts have been a bit non-existent for the last couple months... actually I haven't even checked so it could be longer! Yikes! Well, this post is to show how very existent and happening the garden was and that the only reason that I haven't been blogging has been due to being extremely busy! Your about to see why...
... Lets take a look into the past... to August. Ahhh summer- do you remember that?
Its October now by the way. So if your just tucking away the last produce from your garden and/or generally getting ready for the end of the season and onset of winter, I hope all these photos will be a colorful reminder of what was and will be again.
The garden in August was booming and blooming. Harvesting suddenly went into full swing and I was freezing, drying, canning and cooking things (for dinner) left and right. I think I was eating almost a cucumber a day! My tomatoes were AWESOME this year, this was also the first year I grew my own tomato seedlings successfully from seed- which also happened to be organic heirloom tomato seeds to begin with (coincidence- I think not!). Of the major preserving projects I canned several batches of: zesty salsa, dilly beans, red root relish and salsa verde; froze: beans, shredded zucchini, pesto and LOTS of blueberries (from a local U-pick farm).

A row of Basil and Zinnia (the basil lived in perpetual shade of the zinnias and did very well -I'd like to note.) |
Pie pumpkins and Tomatillos. |
Parsley and Kohlrabi (about to be consumed for dinner) |
Some big marigolds (from saved seeds) some of the blooms were 2-3" in diameter! |
Beautiful Karen! Envious of what your cupbard and freezer must look like.
